Read to Feed

I don't know the exact name of it. I think Read to Feed is wrong, but it was pretty cool anyway. We went to help organize the books for our activity and it was a lot of fun. They have tons of books. There is going to be national news there for three days interviewing the young man that started all of this. The money they earn goes to Food Share here in Florence. Here are some pictures.

It was really hard to get all the girls pictures, they kept moving! :)

Cart Racing

Here are a few pictures of our activity last Wednesday. We took the girls to FM and divided them up into two teams, they were to use the alphabet and find things that would be useful in an Emergency situation. The winning team got to pick the ice cream. It was fun.
Anna is on the electric cart because of a badly sprained ankle.
The winning team above.

It was fun to do this, it was our rainy day backup plan. Our original was to go geocaching, but it was cold and wet out. That will have to save for a sunny day.

Getting ready for Trek and other pioneer themes

The girls all need to make skirts for trek and another activity we are having in September. We had angels that came to help, Shirley Kilmer, Joann Mower, Carol Parish and Amy Wade. Thank you, you wonderful women, for coming and helping and letting us use all the RS sewing machines and supplies. We couldn't have done it without you.

We aren't quite done yet, but we will be. Most of them have at least one skirt done (they need two) and we still need to make an apron for them. We'll do that in a couple of weeks. It will be fun to have something on had to wear to all the pioneer things.

New Beginnings

I know, I'm really late, sorry girls. Mishap with the pictures, but we're finally here. Yeah!

New Beginnings was wonderful. I just have to say. We have great young women in our ward! Here we go with pictures! Thanks to James (Kaitlyn's dad) for taking pictures, we were busy so couldn't do it. Thank you, thank you! We had a lighthouse theme and we were going to be having NB up at our lighthouse, but the lady cancelled late afternoon of the day of, so we moved to the church. It was hectic since we didn't have anything planned, but it turned out really good. The girls sang the Jenny Phillips song "Firm in the Faith". They did such a great job.

Light Keepers

The theme for 2009 is 1 Timothy 4:12 - "...but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity". Jenny Phillips created this CD around the theme, using a lighthouse as a theme. Perfect for us, of course.

Without telling the girls what it was all about, we took them up to the Lighthouse for a photo shoot. The first day we went it was a beautiful day. I just had to post some of the pictures. I'm in Tucson right now and don't have the New Beginning pictures with me. . I'll tell about New Beginnings when I get home. So, here we go. We only got six of the girls, the second day we had more girls that could come, but I don't have those pictures with me either. Sorry girls, I'll post those when I get home too. Just looking though these made me smile. I sure love these girls. They are GREAT GIRLS!

Puddinary

Yes, puddinary. That was our joint activity in January. It was way fun to watch the kids make pictures out the pudding. They had a great time.

First, the rules of the game and dividing up into teams.

Jacob then wondered if they could get more points if they used their nose or blindfolded. Absolutely! (no pictures of blindfolded, which was quite interesting, but here are some with noses. Just a reminder, don't go from top to bottom, you end up with pudding all up your nose!

More pictures...

Snow Trip

A couple of weeks ago we took the youth on a snow trip over to Bend. We were invited by a ward there, who housed us, fed us and organized everything. It was a great time. We went to the Bishop's home for a fireside and the kids (from 3 wards) ran around the house, watched movies and had dinner and snacks before the girls headed back to Cindy's house for the night. The boys stayed at the Bishop's. It was really a great time.

I didn't get any pictures of the sledding, as it was too far away. It was soooo cold with the wind blowing, but it was still fun. The next day we went ice skating. Here are some pictures of that. Don't ask me how I got B&W in there. New camera! Who knows!

I think I got all our YW in pictures, but it's not easy to see them in these pictures. Can you make everyone out? A great time was had by all! I sure do love it over in Bend!
